1. Use a glass wheel.
Use a marker to mark roughly where the glass bottle needs to be cut, then use a glass wheel to sand the glass bottle along the mark, leaving a shallow print on the glass bottle.
2. Next, still place the bottle horizontally over the candle so that the mark is positioned just above the flame. The marked position under the flame will form a circle of black charcoal on the glass bottle.
